Plant the seeds that education is important through an interactive program for school age children.
It is the belief that the largest talent pool is not just in the existing working demographic, but also in the youth living in our communities. Unless we plant the seeds in the children of the North about thinking outside the box, being creative, building, or innovating, we will not have resiliency in the future. The Create Foundation part of this project is a fun and interactive “hands-on” program to engage children to think about being either an entrepreneur or an intrapreneur (both are innovators) as they move through the education system. We will be going right into the elementary schools in each community.
Open conversations across generations through facilitated roundtable discussion.
Opening up conversations across generations in a community is really important. Each community has its own unique personality, problems, and assets. In order to create authentic communication, we need to ensure that we hear the voice of both your youth (high school) and greater community (community leaders, entrepreneurs, members of your community)
PART ONE – We will be going into the high schools and sharing the stories of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs within your community. Then through small facilitated group discussions, the youth will share how they believe we can inspire the next generation of innovators.
PART TWO – We will bring the ideas from the youth discussions to the main townhall. The event is uniquely formatted to have all participants actively contributing via small facilitated groups discussions. Solutions need to come from the communities themselves by listening to local youth, leaders and residents. Feedback from the local townhalls will then set the stage for the next step.
Creating change starts with the momentum of even small steps.
Innovation in the North for the North starts with advancing the conversation into action strategies.
Your feedback from the townhall will help create practical recommendations on what we should be doing next in your community. Some ideas will take larger orchestration from different levels of government, funding and organizations. However, we don’t need to wait. Creating change starts with the momentum of even small steps. Each community will be given strategies on big and small changes that can be made to help Ignite the North.
We will also be on the look out to find champions within each community. These champions will be given one-on-one coaching, support and resources as they build their local innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
